RORY RAINBOW + THE LOST BEAR

The POD Nechells and Bloomsbury Nursery School.

Rory was created using ideas from the community - the connected threads that are the people at the heart of the Nechells community.

The Bloomsbury Bear was found alone in the garden. The nursery children decided that he was lost and that they would care for him by bringing clothes and food. They brought him inside so they could look after him. The care and gifts bestowed by the children inspired the mosaic we created together. Wrapping him up in clothes and wondrous things...

QUIET CARNIVAL

August 2020, Friction Arts, Digbeth

A summer celebration of diverse artwork and artists. I exhibited new work created during lockdown. I spent a lot of time walking my local canal and was influenced by the waste I saw. Time felt different.  I collected waste, so the beauty of the canal and wildlife could shine. Documenting my walks, and the waste collected led me to create small hand held artworks, that became viewers, sharing the things I had seen.
This was shown at Quiet Carnival, which was a culmination of being a particiant in 'Walking over Coals' with Friction Arts ( A responsive CPPPD programme for artists ). I also worked on some short films and discarded road signs, with vinyl to reframe the notion of a warning, thinking about the environment and a moment in time where we are thinking about where next ?
